After I posted my latest reel, I immediately received questions about what hair tools and products I use and what my favorites are. This post has all of my must have hair tools and products and how I use them in my daily routine. While I love a good hair day, two of my main goals are to keep it moisturized and to prevent myself from having to wash it too often.
Top Hair Tools
I use hot tools on my hair pretty often. For me, it has been worth it to invest in nice ones that are better for your hair. When I get Keratin treatments (see info here) I don’t blow dry my hair, I let it air dry. Then I either use my T3 or the straightening brush.
T3 Curling Iron & Curl Stick – I love to create curls that turn into waves the next day. While it is a splurge, if you curl your hair a lot, I definitely think it is worth it. There is a base and then different attachments you can buy to use. All of the barrels are smooth and distribute heat evenly. The T3 base has 5 heat settings so you can truly customize it to your hair. You don’t have to use more heat than is needed. It is also nice to use different heat settings for different looks. I typically use the 3rd heat setting but when I want the curl to be more of a curl than a wave, I’ll use the 4th setting.
If you like different curl options, the best deal is to buy either one of the sets that come with the base, depending on whether you like to use curling irons or curl sticks more. Personally I bought the curl stick set and then later this 1.25′ curling iron barrel too.
Vanity Planet Straightening Brush – I have straight hair already and don’t like the pin straight look so I don’t use a straightening iron. Instead I use a straightening brush when I need to smooth out my hair or straighten any bends or kinks. Working in layers, I will glide this thru my hair with some tension and it helps create the look of your hair being blown out. I can even create a bit of bend at the ends. It also helps revive your hair on the 2nd or 3rd day.
Top Hair Products
I don’t use a lot of hair products on my hair. Too many products on my hair makes it weighed down and I have to wash it more often.
Living Proof Dry Shampoo – I have tried countless dry shampoos and Living Proof’s is THE BEST. It absorbs oil and dirt without being heavy or drying out your hair. I love it so much that I have a subscription where 2 bottles are sent to me every other month. (sign up here)
Living Proof Dry Volume Blast – Any time I need some help with volume, this product is a quick fix. Just spray a small amount at the roots and work it in. It doesn’t take much to get a little lift!
Olaplex Hair Perfector – From heat to coloring, my hair can take a beating. This treatment protects my hair and even improves it. You apply the cream to wet hair and then let it sit. I like to give it an hour or two at a minimum but I’ve even slept in it overnight. Using it every few weeks, my hair is stronger and has less frizz.
Texture Spray – Texture spray adds some grit or pieciness to your hair. The key is to use sparingly and not focus on the roots. Whether you curl your hair or not, this will add some definition to my look. It can also help with my curls when my hair is feeling too smooth.
