While they aren’t a brand new item, I feel like the shacket has really became popular last Fall. Maybe it was because we all especially wanted comfy, cute and casual clothes last or maybe because they are such a versatile clothing item. Either way, I have been asked a few times how to wear a shacket and what some of my favorites are.
This last weekend, I tried on a ton of different ones to find great options. In the pics I am wearing a medium in each shacket. They all are pretty oversized and I could have gone down a size if I had wanted them more fitted. It is up to you and the look that you are going for.

How to Style A Shacket
By definition a shacket is a cross between a shirt and jacket so it is an ideal layering piece. It can go on top of many Summer items as well as your favorite Fall and Winter items. My number one tip for styling a shacket is to focus on proportions. In most cases a shacket is oversized, so keep your other clothing items more slim fitting. Many of the shackets in this post are longer and hit around mid thigh. Leggings, skinny jeans, fitted dresses etc. all keep the look from being too bulky and in proportion.
I start by finding the right fitted top or dress, something that coordinates with the shacket. If you want to play with patterns or colors, do it with a top. If you like the crop trend, this is a way to wear it but still be pretty covered. A crop tank or t shirt would look really cute! Then add bottoms that are on the slim side as well. Straight leg denim would work as well. After adding your shacket you can play around with accessories.
While it mainly lends itself to casual outfits, you can dress up a shacket. The quickest way to elevate a shacket is to style it with a fitted dress and heeled booties. Another option is to add a sexy tank or other top under the shacket. I love this mix of a more masculine/oversized piece paired with something feminine.
