Bodycon have come and gone thru the years. They are once again a big trend and a great addition to any wardrobe. While something bodycon may seem intimidating to wear, they are actually really flattering. They accentuate your curves and look good on everyone. While it may seem that something bodycon would only be meant for evening or dressy moments, bodycon dresses can be worn casually too. In this post I am sharing ways to style bodycon dresses casually.
How to Wear a Bodycon Dress Casually
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #1: Add a Loafer
One of the top ways to dress down a bodycon dress is to focus on the type of shoes. A lug soled loafer is not only one of the biggest trends right now but they’ll dress down a boydcon dress. The heaviness of the shoe contrasts with the light and airiness of this slip dress. This lug soled loafer is not only cute but super affordable and such a great way to try the trend.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #2: Add a Turtleneck
Layers are a big part of Fall dressing. Temps change throughout the day so it is nice to have layers to make sure you stay comfortable. Layers can also extend your wardrobe by making warm weather clothes work in the cold weather. See my favorite layers here. Adding a turtleneck to this sleeveless extends the wear into Fall and Winter while also dressing it down.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #3: Style with Athleisure
One of the quickest ways to style a bodycon dress casually is to pair it with athleisure. Add your favorite sweatshirt, a belt bag and tennis shoes and you have complete outfit. You can do this with a body con dress that is long or short. And have fun with the color combos. This type of outfit is such a good one for Fall weekends. It is comfortable enough to run errands in but still looks really put together.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #4: Add a Cropped T-Shirt
Styling a cropped t-shirt over a bodycon dress not only makes the dress casual but it’s a way to wear the cropped trend and not show any midriff. The proportions the cropped t-shirt create are really flattering because it flatters your waist and makes your legs look extra long. This cropped t-shirt is one of my favorites I’ve found. It is boxy without being too wide.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #5: Add an Oversized Jacket
Quilted jackets are nothing new but an oversized version, like this one, is a more current silhouette. It is also one of those layers that will go with most of your Fall wardrobe. When paired with a body con dress it keeps it casual but still looks really put together. This is a great option for bodycon dresses that are knit or ribbed. The fabric contrasts well with the quilted jacket. Once again the type of shoes are important to making an outfit casual and a cute loafer adds style.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #6: Add a Denim Jacket
Not much needs to be said about the classic denim jacket. Like a utility jacket, a more oversized fit is the current trending silhouette. I’ve seen them paired with everything from athleisure to tulle skirts. It can be unexpected with dressier fabrics but that gives more style to the look. Heeled lug boots, silky slip dress and oversized denim seem like three items meant for separate outfits. When they are all neutral they actually can be paired together for a great day outfit. This would be really cute for brunch, a lunch date or even a casual dinner. I have these boots in a different pattern and they are some of my most worn.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #7: Style with Flats
Keeping it simple, style a bodycon dress with basic flats. I love this for a casual office look or it would even be great for Thanksgiving and other Holiday activities. A bodycon sweater dress is very comfortable but still looks polished. Styling something casually doesn’t mean you have to lose that.
Bodycon Dress Outfit Idea #8: Style with a Chunky Sweater
A chunky sweater really goes with everything! This one comes in several beautiful colors. When styled over a bodycon dress it adds some depth and heft to an outfit while also making it more casual. Even if it is a mini dress. To further keep it casual juxtapose with a even more casual sneaker.
