Trying new beauty products is one of my favorite things. There are so many new ones that come out and I love finding new ones that I love. One thing that is important to figure out is what is effective and what isn’t. In many cases, some of the best products have a larger price tag. Luxury products have nicer textures, more effective ingredients and better scents. But what is misleading is that not all expensive products work or are worth the money. It can be really frustrating to figure out what beauty splurges are actually worth it. In this post, I have put together my list of the best beauty splurges.
Beauty Splurge Must Haves
K18 Hair Treatment
The K18 Hair treatment is the first item I thought of when I started this list. It is my absolute favorite hair product and I haven’t found anything like it. It actually improves the damage to my hair and doesn’t just coat it. The changes in my hair condition make it 100% worth the splurge. Even after the first use, your hair feels in better condition. I have dedicated a whole post to it here. What is great is that you don’t need a lot of product each time you use it so it does last a lot.
Keratin Treatment
Something that has transformed my hair thru the years and made it easier to manage is a Keratin treatment. In short, a keratin treatment adds Keratin back into your hair and smooths and fills the cuticle of your hair. It doesn’t change your hair texture or permanently straighten it, but improves the condition. There are many brands but they treatment is done in a salon by a professional.
They can last up to 6 months and are a game changer for my hair routine. It makes my hair more manageable and my hair dries faster. I also have less frizz and my hair doesn’t react to humidity nearly as much.
T3 Curling Trio
If you use hot tools frequently, investing in a quality one can last you for years. The T3 trio is one of the best deals for the quality. Whether you pick the curl stick trio or curling iron trio you get 3 attachments for different curling options. You can also buy more attachments if you want but the 3 gives you so much variety!
The base also has 5 heat options so you can control how much heat you use. I like to use lower heat settings most of the time and only for special occasions use more heat. I have mine for over 4 years and it still works perfectly.
Living Proof Dry Shampoo
There are a lot of dry shampoos out there, so you may wonder why you need to spend this much on a dry shampoo. Well this dry shampoo is worth it! It actually cleans your hair by absorbing oil, sweat and even odor! It can extend the days between washing and work to get the sweat out of your hair after a workout. And it works so well but doesn’t overly dry out your hair. Many lesser dry shampoos can get rid of oil but then leave their own residue or white powdery finish, this dry shampoo doesnt! Have you ever had to wash your hair because you were at a smokey bar? Well this dry shampoo will absorb and get rid of the odor.
Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil
Hair Oil can be one of the best products for dry hair. You can apply it to we or dry hair. Olaplex No. 7 oil is one of the best because it protects and provides moisture without being too heavy. Just a few drops on your ends makes hair softer protects against. I even put a tiny bit towards the roots of may hair when I have fly aways. My hair feels softer immediately after I use it.
Now that I have extensions, it is even more important to provide moisture to my hair. Each night before bed, I work in a few drops into the bottom half of my hair. Then I tie it back loosely with a silk scrunchy.
Beauty Counter No. 1 Brightening Oil
Oils are such an incredible skin care product. They have so many benefits. While there are tons of different oils to choose from, its important to find one that provides the types of benefits you need. I have used the Beauty Counter No. 1 oil almost daily for over 4 years. The key ingredient is the vitamin C. While the oil moisturizes and protects your skin, the Vitamin C brightens, evens out skin tone and on of other things. See my full review here. Oils work for oily skin too they sink in and won’t make your skin feel like it has excess oil on it.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
I never knew I needed a cleansing balm in my skin care routine until I tried one. Cleansing balms take off your make up and really clean your skin without stripping it of its natural oils and drying it out. I have found that my skin is softer and in better condition since I started using Elemis’ Pro-Collagen cleansing balm. While there are many different ones, the Elemis cleansing balm is the best I’ve ever tried. The original version has the best subtle spa smell but there is a non-scent version too.
Kate Somerville Exfolikate
Kate Somerville Exfolikate is one of the best exfoliators I have ever used. Exfoliating is an important part of any skincare routine but it is hard to find the right one. Without it being too harsh, Exfolikate leaves skin smoother than other exfoliators and has both physical and chemical exfoliants. Personally, I didn’t have any irritation or redness afterwards. There is a slight tingle while it is on your skin, but I liked the feeling. It works well enough that it doesn’t have to be used very often. I have a full review on it here.
Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Deodorant
This is a recent purchase for me but is an instant love. This is a cult favorite but I always thought it was a lot to spend for deodorant. I finally caved when my latest deodorant stopped working. After my first day of using it, I know the Cashmere Mist Deodorant works! It keeps you really dry. I had a work situation that would normally cause me to stress sweat but I was shocked by how dry I was. I later when on a walk and it was really warm and I was still dry. Just note that I am not someone that doesn’t sweat! It does have a slight floral powdery smell. It lasted most of the day but is very subtle.
Supergoop Glowscreen
As a mixture between skin care and makeup, Supergoop Glowscreen is the best daily face sunscreen I’ve ever used. It is part of my everyday routine. The sunscreen soaks in well, provides great protection and is a makeup primer. It also provides your skin a subtle glow. I actually just updated my post with a full review on Glowscreen here.
Dior Dream Skin Cushion Compact
The Dior Dreamskin Cushion Compact was my favorite product I discovered at the Dior makeup lesson (read everything I learned here). It is almost hard to explain because it is a mix of skincare and makeup. The Dreamskin line has great ingredients that take care of your skin but also give you instant results. It hydrates and is anti-aging. The cushion compact blurs your skin to perfect your complexion and give you a glow. It can be worn on its own or on top of foundation. You can also reapply it throughout the day if you want a little extra glow. I don’t wear it every day but absolutely love it for special occasions, date night or just fun nights out when I want my make up to be perfect!
Artis Makeup Brushes
I honestly never realized the difference a great makeup brush can make until I used my Artis brushes. The quality of the bristles and the way they are quite compact makes makeup glide on! They have become a game change in how my makeup looks, especially my foundation. Powders, liquids and creams work with these brushes! They are shaped a little different than your typical makeup brushes and I actually find them easier to use. I talk more about them here.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner & Lipstick in Pillow Talk
I am an avid lipstick wearer and usually it is a statement color. Charlotte Tilbury’s Lipstick in the color Pillow Talk is the first neutral/subtle color that I actually love! The pinkish beige color somehow manages to enhance your lips without being a statement. Bonus is that the color looks great on almost everyone! I get asked about it all the time when I wear it and then whenever someone tries it they always end up loving it.
Nars Blush in Orgasm
If you have any of my makeup routine posts in the last 3 years, then you’ve seen that I wear this blush. Nars Blush in the color orgasm is one of my top beauty products. It is the most beautiful color which provides warmth and color to your skin without looking fake. That shade also has a subtle shimmer to without being glittery. The powder is so pigmented that you only need a little so it really lasts a long time so it is definitely worth the splurge.
