I first posted about Beauty Counter Brightening Oil almost 4 years ago, after using it for about 6 months. I loved it then and it is still my number one skincare item! So I love love love this oil! It’s the one item I suggest to everyone anytime I talk skincare. I would bathe in it if I could afford to fill a bathtub with the oil. lol. No matter what is going on with my skin, this oil is part of my skincare routine every day. Most skin types can benefit from this oil. In this post, I’ll explain the beneficial ingredients, how to use and my full Beauty Counter No. 1 Brightening Oil review.
Initially, I tried Brightening Oil because I was looking to incorporate Vitamin C in my skin care routine. I read numerous articles that recommended it and my facialist says it was something that would step up my skincare routine (see full routine here). At the same time, a friend recommended trying the brand Beauty Counter. This brand is all about clean beauty. They not only hold themselves up to higher standards but advocate for safer products for everyone.

Beauty Counter No. 1 Brightening Oil Key Benefits
I’ve listed all the main benefits of vitamin C above but now will talk about what this oil specifically does because it has more than just Vitamin C in it. As soon as you use the oil you’ll notice you’re skin is glowing! It really does have an instant effect of giving your skin a dose of radiance. The Brightening Oil hydrates your skin from the ingredients in it locks in the natural moisture in your skin. This is truly one of the most major benefits. The antioxidants in vitamin c brighten your skin and help to even your skin tone. Over time you’ll notice your skin is firmer and overall just healthier. This oil protects your skin from outside damage and helps it to function better. It also locks in any products or serums you apply before you put on the oil.
How to Use
This Brightening Oil should be one of your last steps in your skincare routine. At night, once I have cleansed and taken off my makeup, I then add serum. I like to give my skin a few minutes to soak in the serum and then I add this oil. I take about 6-8 drops, warm them up in my hand and apply to my face and neck massaging it in to my skin and then really pressing it in. If I have the time, I’ll give myself a lymph node massage to help with any inflammation or swelling in my face. Once I’ve given it a few min to soak in, I finish off my routine with my moisturizer. I typically use this Nivea Creme (full review here).
I use the No. 1 Brightening oil every night.
It does take a few minutes to soak into my skin so if I am in a rush in the morning, I don’t apply it. If it hasn’t soaked in enough before make up is applied your make up won’t last. On days that I have a little more time or don’t plan on wearing much makeup, I love to apply this oil. It gives my skin a healthy glow!
When my skin gets really dry in the winter, I’ll simplify my skincare routine and focus on just this oil and a thick moisturizer. It is a lifesaver during harsh, dry weather. (see more winter skincare tips here).
If you have never used facial oil in your skincare routine before, start with just a few drops at night. Slowly work your way up to a half dropper or full dropper of oil. One big misconception on facial oils is that they will make your skin more oily, which is not the case. If you have oily skin, you can still use oils!
Facial oils themselves have lots of benefits. They intensely moisturize and lock in your own moisture. They also help complement the natural oils in your skincare. If you are still a little worried about adding into your routine, add a few drops to your moisturizer and then apply to your face.
Is Beauty Counter Brightening Oil worth it?
In summary? Yes, Brightening Oil is absolutely worth it! I have used the oil basically every day for almost 4.5 years. And like I said earlier, it is my favorite skincare item! There aren’t many products that really do have multiple benefits but this one certainly does. The glow it gives your skin is unmatched. You get benefits from the moment you apply it but also the more you use it the better the benefits.
When I travel, I typically pair down my skincare routine to just the essentials. I ALWAYS pack this oil. No matter what happens to my skin when traveling I know I’ll need this oil. On long flights, I’ll take off my makeup and put a heavy layer of the oil on. It protects my skin from the dry plane air.
