As I said in this post, Spring is really on it’s way. One of the tips I mentioned in that post to transition your wardrobe from Winter to Spring is layering with a jacket. We all know Spring weather is so hot and cold (literally) so it can be hard to plan your outfit for the weather. Our big thick winter coats are too much but we still need something. Layers are key and jackets are the easiest layer to add to an outfit. They are especially helpful for days that start and end cool but heat up during the day.
I’ve put together the best light spring jackets for integrating into your wardrobe. Having a couple Spring jackets in your wardrobe will give you the options you need to get thru the constant weather changes with style.
12 Best Light Spring Jackets
The best Spring jackets are lightweight but will keep you warm when the temps dip. They also need to be versatile and work well in your wardrobe. I’ve pulled together some of my favorite options that I’ve found this season. I have found the classic spring jackets like a denim jacket and tweed one. But I’ve also found some more modern versions of these classics as well.
Gabrielle Convertible Box Jacket
Tweed jackets can be pricey but there is no other jacket that will stand the test of time. When a designer brand like Chanel has been creating tweed jackets since their beginnings, you know yours will never go out of style. If you invest in one jacket this season, I would recommend a tweed one!
This Gabrielle Convertible Box Jacket is special because it can be 3/4 or short sleeves. You can treat a tweed jacket like you would a blazer. They are a great option for business casual work looks and can be styled with both dress pants and denim.
Tweed Shacket
This tweed shacket is such a cool blend of two kind of opposite types of jackets. Tweed is such a classic fabric and typically jackets in this style are classic cuts. Seeing it as a shacket gives the more dressed up style a casual twist. I like that although it is a shacket, it is not oversized and is still refined.
Styling this shacket is so fun! For a business casual look, add in jeans and a heel. To “toughen up” the jacket further, pair it with all black and combat boots. When it warms up further you can even style the jacket with denim shorts and a graphic t-shirt.
Windowpane Tweed Jacket
This tweed windowpane jacket is in the traditional tweed fabric but the cropped length really changes it up. Cropped styles have become really popular recently and aren’t going anywhere. They are a fun way to switch up the style of silhouette you wear. The best styling of cropped jackets like this one is with high waisted pants or skirts.
For work or other dressier occasions, style this tweed jacket with a coordinating blouse and black pants. High-waisted wide leg pants or jeans would look extra sophisticated. Don’t be afraid to style with textured or patterned blouses.
Double Breasted Nylon Trench Coat
Trench coats are one of the first things that come to mind when I think of Spring jackets. They are the most tried and true jackets for a reason. I like that this Double Breasted option is a lighter color than the traditionally more tan options. This jacket is 100% nylon and water repellant. With the long length, it will really keep you warm but also be a lightweight jacket.
Styling options are really limitless with this piece. The neutral soft sand color will go with pretty much everything in your wardrobe. Top off any of your business casual or work outfits with this Spring jacket. Not only will you be prepared for any weather changes but the extra layer always looks chic. This is also a great piece to have to wear over Spring and Summer dresses.
But you aren’t limited to dressed up styling with this jacket. It would look great on the weekend with your favorite athleisure or leggings!
Coated Lightweight Trench Coat
If you are looking for a less traditional take on the classic trench this coated Lightweight Trench Coat caught my eye. The lightweight jacket has all the classic lines of a trench with an updated fabric. The linen fabric is coated to create a glossy look on the outside but you still have soft linen on the inside. I can’t help but love this blush color for a Spring jacket but they have a really pretty sage green option too!
This swingy silhouette is just begging to be worn unbuttoned and open. Because it makes a statement even just jeans and a white t-shirt makes a cute outfit. Add in some pointy toe shoes to complete the look.
Styling isn’t limited to that look, just like the other trench above, this lightweight jacket will be a great last touch for any Spring outfit!
Trucker Denim Jacket
I don’t really need to go on about why a denim jacket is such a closet staple, especially in the Spring. In this post I talk about how it really helps transition your wardrobe from Winter to Spring. This particularly option is one of the most versatile styles. The medium wash and length give it the most options to style with almost anything! I
Denim jackets are one of the first things I pack for any Spring trips. I know that it will go with whatever else I throw in my suitcase.
Puff Sleeve Denim Jacket
Strong silhouettes, especially strong shoulders are a big trend this Spring. It’s only natural that this trend would move into more traditional items like a Puff Sleeve denim jacket. The spring jacket is a big upgrade to the usually casual denim jacket. While the sleeves make it dressier, the distressing adds a bit of edge.
The fitted silhouette limits your styling options a bit because you’ll need to keep to thin and light layers underneath. My favorite way to style this piece would be with a a slip dress or other light dress! It adds to the juxtaposition of sweet and edgy. It’s also a great option to create a denim on denim look. The key to that outfit is two different washes so it doesn’t look like denim suit. This black denim jacket will look good with light wash jeans!
Relaxed White Denim Jacket
Another take on the denim jacket is this relaxed version in white denim. I love a relaxed fit denim jacket! They allow you to have more options to layer under the jacket. You can style with thinner sweatshirts and sweaters if you need more warmth than a lightweight jacket provides. This option is a longer cut too. Longer styles work especially well if you like to wear more slim fitted bottoms like leggings or skinny cut pants.
White denim is so fresh! It makes me think of Spring and warmer temps!
Fringed Textured Jacket
This Fringed Textured Jacket just screams coziness! It is like a warm chic blanket that you can actually wear. The white and neutral palette make it perfect for cool Spring days! All the different textures keep the monochromatic jacket interesting. it even has abit of metallic threads in it for a bit of sparkle.
The first way I would style this fringed jacket is to keep in the color scheme of the jacket and have the whole look monochromatic. I’d start with white jeans and a white blouse and add a tan flat. Even if your whites don’t match each other, they’ll work because the jacket has so many shades of white and cream.
To up the cozy factor this jacket could be layered over a matching sweat set or some cute joggers!
Acid Wash Cardigan Jacket
A cross between a cardigan and a jacket, this Acid Wash Cardigan Jacket has to be the comfiest jacket on this list. It is cozy but still stylish. The open jacket has lots of texture and interest. It is a bit slouchy so easily layers over most blouses and t-shirts.
Style it as the final touch over your casual looks. Since it has less structure than a typical jacket, a button down or other structured top looks particularly cute with this jacket.
Quilted Jacket
Quilted jackets are the perfect not dress but not super casual lightweight jacket. This one has a lot of special details. It has the prettiest pattern to the quilting and also has drop sleeves. The buttons are asymmetrical but the Spring jacket will look great styled open or closed. I love that the sleeves can be worn rolled up or down.
Diamond Quilted Jacket
For anyone that lives somewhere with a lot of rain, a water repellant jacket is a must! This Diamond Quilted Jacket not only will keep you dry but is stylish enough that you will want to wear it even when it isn’t raining. There is even a removable hood to make sure you are really covered. The diamond puff coat is on trend but still a lightweight jacket. I love the pattern! The moss green jacket makes a statement but the color is versatile enough that it won’t be limited in what you wear with it.
While a water repellant jacket is usually worn as a necessity, it doesn’t mean you can’t style a great outfit with it. On the next cold an rainy day, pair the jacket with your favorite leggings and water proof shoes. Layer a cute white button down and light sweater combination under it for an understated classic outfit.
Faux Leather Jacket
Think of this tan faux leather jacket as the Spring version of the black leather jacket. It is the chic faux leather jacket you didn’t know you needed for Spring! The edgy factor is taken down a bit by the tan color but it still is as chic as any other faux leather option. The moto style has a craped color that stays open and really frames your face.
Faux leather makes a great spring jacket because it will complete an outfit and keep you warm but is still a lightweight jacket. Wear this jacket as you would any other leather jacket. It will now just have make any outfit more Spring ready. Your dark leggings or pants are instantly fresher and seasonally appropriate.
