Even when I’m running late or don’t have a lot of time to get ready, I still like to put on a little makeup. It makes me feel pulled together. There are also times I just don’t want to spend a lot of time on my makeup and don’t want a full face of it. For all of these instances, I’ve put together a quick makeup routine. Whether its weekend errands, brunch or just a lazy day, this look makes me feel polished and pretty. So, in this post I am sharing my 5-minute makeup routine.
My 5-Minute Makeup Routine
This makeup tutorial be modified to fit your needs. If you like to focus on different areas than I do, you can spend more time on them and less on other. The idea is to find a process that works for you and makes you feel your best!
Step 1: Prep the Skin
As soon as I wake up I splash on a little water and then put on this Hydrualonic Acid Serum. I’ll sometimes add some moisturizer and/or face oil but this tutorial is for my 5-minute makeup routine so I want to keep things quick. After cleansing I use this Supergoop sunscreen primer. I wear it every single day and have it on a recurring shipment! (see full review here) I love how it is two steps in one and provides the sunscreen I need and a great primer. It also has the prettiest glow to it. The glow is especially great when I’m not wearing a full face of makeup because it gives my skin a little help that is usually done with foundation.
Step 2: Conceal & Color
When I need to get my makeup done quickly you will rarely find me wearing foundation. Instead, I start my makeup routine with this concealer. I use it on the dark and red areas of my face. For me this is typically under my eyes, around my nose and lips. Just a bit of concealer really makes a difference in evening out my skin tone. I blend it in with the Artis No. 6 brush. If you want a bit of coverage, I suggest a tinted moisturizer. To add some color to my cheekbones I use Nars blush in Orgasm and set all of my face with Bareminerals mineral veil. This blush in the color Orgasm is really a universal blush. It looks good on so many different skin tones!
Step 3: Eyes
My next focus is the eyes. I fill in my brows with this Bareminerals eyebrow pencil. It’s the first pencil I’ve found that has the correct color and blends well. I find that it doesn’t look too filled in or overdone. I’ll then swipe on a quick line of the Laura Mercier Caviar stick in the color Amethyst along my lash line. It gives just a bit of definition but isn’t too dark that I have to worry about getting it perfect. I use it as kind of a cross between a liner and shadow. It also blends easily so its foolproof. To finish off my eyes, I quickly curl my lashes and do a quick coat of this Blinc Mascara. It is a tubing mascara so it truly doesn’t smear or smudge the whole day. Even if I work out!
Steph 4: Highlight & Lips
My last step is my favorite step. Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, I highlight a few areas of my face. I am a big of of ColourPop’s supershock highlighters. They do a great job and are inexpensive. I keep highlighting pretty light and add just a touch. Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, I first swipe a bit of highlighter along my brow bone. Then I add some to the inner corner of my eyes. If I have time, I’ll even add a little bit on my cheekbones. This is the area I go the lightest!
To finish off my look, I have to have some lip color. You can definitely get away with some lip balm but I always want a little something more. I typically go with a colored lip gloss, like this one. It has the color I want but it is easier to put on and doesn’t have to be perfect.
