I never thought I could purchase a custom suit. One of my friends created a business that makes custom suits and the whole experience of picking one out is attainable for more . William & Lauren is a company that creates custom suits. The suit is made to your exact measurements. Lauren, the owner of the company, created not only a wonderful product but an equally amazing experience. When you order a suit you can you personally meet with Lauren and she takes you through the entire process.
At first, William & Lauren made just men’s suits. Many of my friends ordered suits for work and for weddings. All of the suits looked great and I was jealous I couldn’t pick out my own. Now William & Lauren has women’s suits! I was lucky enough to be one of the first ones to order a women’s suit. I loved it so much, I have since ordered another suit and a blazer.
The Process
Picking out a custom suit seems a bit overwhelming but Lauren guides you through the entire process. She’ll start by asking you a few questions to figure out exactly what you are looking for. Even if you don’t know what you want, she helps with that too. Based on your ideas, preferences etc, she finds the right options for you. You receive as little or as much guidance as you want.
The first item to pick out is fabric. William & Lauren have tons of samples in about any color scheme you can want. She has different fabrics and prints too. Based on what you are looking for, she can recommend specific colors, prints and fabrics. Even if you need a very corporate, professional suit there are still numerous options for you. Or if you are like me and are open to anything, you can look thru all of the fabric samples. I liked seeing everything to inspire me and give me ideas of what I wanted.
While you are picking out a fabric, the cut and fit options of the suit can be discussed. William and Lauren have their own custom patterns. They then use your measurements to create the perfect fit. The blazer can be personalized by picking out the lapel type, length, pocket placement and back vent style. For the pants, you choose length, fit, button style and whether you want belt loops.
The details
The details come next Just like the outside, there are a lot of great fabric options for the lining of your suit. Go bold with a liner, even if your suit is conservative. A company logo can even be created into a liner. You choose buttons and stitching colors next. Buttons are like the jewelry to a suit. They can contrast to the suit color and make or statement. Or the buttons can be neutral and blend into the fabric.
Once everything has been chosen, it is time for measurements! This is how you truly get the perfect fit. Lauren takes your measurements and your suit is cut to perfectly fit you. William & Lauren keeps your measurements so next time you order they will already have them. The custom suit arrives in only takes a few weeks after it is ordered. I love how personal the experience is. Once the suit is made, you meet with Lauren and try it on. If the fit isn’t right, then she will have adjustments you need done.
My Custom Suit Experience
The first time I picked out a custom suit I went with a classic professional look. Going thru the process was so easy and I knew immediately that I would want more suits. I picked out a simple navy print with a thin blush plaid stripe in it to create a custom suit that will always be in style. The buttons and stitching are simple neutral colors. The one item that is not neutral is the lining. I went with a pink paisley print. I love how you can see the lining when I rolled the cuffs of the sleeves! My suit fit perfectly when it came in. A custom piece of clothing is so flattering too! I wear my custom blazer a lot. I love pairing it with jeans, skirts and other dress pants.
Round II
After a few months of wearing my custom pieces it was time to order more. This time I wanted another full suit and a blazer. For the suit, I chose a beautiful jewel toned green. I kept the style very similar to my first suit but did high contrast gold buttons. They look so luxe and really elevate the whole look. I also chose a thicker waistband with a tab button closure. Because I love the gold buttons so much, I wanted the pants to have them too.
Since I wear just the blazers more than I wear a full suit, I also ordered a blazer without matching pants. I designed the blazer of my dreams. I knew I wanted a blush fabric and Lauren had some great options. The blush I chose has some navy threads running through it so I chose navy buttons and had one of the buttons holes stitched with navy thread. Because everything is customizable, I worked with Lauren to create a “boyfriend blazer” fit. We measured the length of the blazer to be a few inches longer than the others and just a little bit bigger fit at the bottom.
Final Review
I LOVE the items I have from William & Lauren. Each item fits perfectly. I never realized how comfortable a blazer could actually be until mine fit perfectly. I love having a completely unique item that I picked everything. Lauren has created a wonderful product and experience. You can take your time and look at all the options to create the exact look you want. It is a bit of an investment but these are the pieces you will have in your wardrobe forever! You’ll wear these with everything (see how I style blazers with jeans here). Classic styles like a blazer and dress pants don’t go out of style and work with items you already own.
